Could we have a slightly longer expiration time? I have a WU which is 73 hours into the crunching and 8 hours more to crunch, and already expired with 97% time dedicated to GPUGRID and CUDA 2.3.

I have the same problem. I cannot run my notebook (with nVidia Quadro CUDA card) all the day. All my GPUGRID tasks are expiring in days and my card cannot calculate in this time keeping in mind that it is working 2-3 hours a day.

I think that there could be two possible solutions:
1. Make expiration time longer. Possibly based on working time on previous tasks for concrete host;
2. Make tasks shorter. For examples, as in Rossetta project where tasks are all finishing in 2-3 hours. So I could crunch much more tasks when I got time for my notebook.

I hope from this will benefit more people and more work will be done. I think it is best if tasks last shorter in time.

Same for me. I have a not really powerful 8600GT which is at least just fine for my office purposes. Due to my PC is running 24/7 the card can crunch during the night and weekend, but WUs are of short expiry which causes more or less often a timeout.

Is there any reason for not extending the expiry? Only up-to-date-cards wanted? Time-critical WUs? I would be very happy if the expiry would be extended some 20%, and at least the project would benefit, too.

Hi all.

This is an old request we can't afford. Our research is based on the cycle of hypothesis-experiment-analysis-hypothesis-... So we need results back as quick as possible to keep a our research going.
We've tweaked along these 18 months of existence a set of WU parameters, size, length, deadlines that is rather optimal for us and affordable by most of our users. Accordingly, in our "system requirements" we recommend a set of GPUs that easily meet the deadlines.

Thanks for your comprehension,
ignasi
