User zpm suggested I post this here rather than Server & Website.

In the past few weeks I've seen a couple of these:

About 30 minutes ago they become persistent. The processing WU and three spares failed, one after the other. Another four downloaded; they failed too.

I detached and reattached. Same. I migrated from BOINC 6.5.0 to 6.6.36. Same. My GPU is now asleep.

Help!

It just happened again. The four WUs failed one after the other, and I'm now told "Full-atom molecular dynamics on Cell processor is not available for your type of computer."

My GPU is happily processing a SETI CUDA WU, so I'm really confused.

Anyone??

ok, 6.67 is a test version for the new 190.38-62 drivers.

are you running 190.38+?

sry i didn't see this earlier, but next time, please post in the gpu crunching threads area... we will help.

When I saw your post (thank you!!) I was running 190.38. I went to the XFX site and downloaded and installed 190.62. Nothing happened when I rebooted so I detached and started GPUGRID again. It failed immediately with the same "we are sorry..." problem. SETI CUDA is ticking over nicely @ 13 mins/WU...

OK. Thanks again, Tom

28 August - I just persuaded GPUGRID to download four WUs. They all failed as above.

Message 12185 - Posted: 28 Aug 2009 | 16:40:24 UTC - in response to Message 12180.

I had a similar drama recently, blue screens the lot, got worse over time until the whole thing was unmanageable. Whether or not its the same cause .... dont know, but its looking similar.

Mine was caused by old bits of drivers left behind on install/deinstall etc of NVidia drivers. When eventually I realised what was going on, I booted into safe mode, ran Driver Sweeper, and bingo, a list a yard long of ones that should not be there. I cleaned it out, rebooted, and instantly peace perfect peace. Rock solid ever since.

Looking back I suspect whatever was left behind screwed up the drivers somewhat, however GPUGRID stresses it more than SETI, so SETI still ran, but GPIGRID didnt. Lame explanation I know to account for run/no run GPUGRID/SETI, but it was my feeling at the time.

There is a more detailed sticky on the NVidia graphics cards forum of the process I followed.

Get Driver Sweeper here:

http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)-download-1655.html

The only other things I can think of, once drivers are cleaned out, is:
- check for any O/C and go back to stock for the moment to see if that helps.

- Use Furmark to see how far into the test it gets, if it falls over, it eliminates the GPUGRID app as the issue and focuses even more on hardware.
Get Furmark here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/FurMark-v1.7.0-download-2321.html

- Do a main memory test http://downloads.guru3d.com/Memtest86+-3.5-Release-download-1844.html

I did that. My list was two yards long! I closed my eyes and clicked "Do It".

After the reboot I reinstalled the Nvidia driver but could not download GPUGRID WUs 'cause I'd exceeded quota.

This morning I got three WUs and the first has been merrily ticking over for 2+ hours.

Many thanks for the solution to my nighmare!
