I've been REALLY having nothing but troubles with Linux recently. My GPU's aren't defective. They do get hot, but Windows doesn't mind. I even tried setting all my GPU's on stock, but even that doesn't help. They ALL fail. I have 3 GTX260's (216), an 8800GT 256MB, a GT240, & an IGP Geforce 9400.

which version of the nvidia driver are you using? Is your cpu over-clocked?

http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=70922&http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=71711 I've just reinstalled with Mint Linux 8 KDE64 using BOINC Client 6.10.56 & NVIDIA Driver 256.25 Before they used Xubuntu 10.04 64bit like http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=71457&http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=62706 which all used BOINC Client 6.10.17 & NVIDIA Driver 195.36.15

All I can say is that there appears to be a regression in the 256.25 driver that is causing instability on multi gpu set ups.

I'm guessing that you're talking about: http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=70922 That PC is not only multi GPU, but mixed multi GPU & that the Geforce 9400IGP is Onboard doesn't make it easier. I'm going to give up on the 9400. Even on Windows 7, where it's most stable, it's still too unstable. It's a funny MB. To choose which GPU is used for BOINC, all you have to do is give it more or less RAM then the other GPU. If I want to use the 8800GT I give it less RAM, if I want to use the 9400 I just give it more RAM then the 8800GT, if both, I give it 256MB just like the 8800GT.
