I go through Windstream communications in lexington ky. They have a chat I can talk to a technician. Im just not sure what to ask as asking do you modify image files sounds kind of stupid. If you know how to go about this I would appreciate the help. I could infact copy and past said information to the technician. Truely yours- ben

What exactly do you mean? Are you dealing with jpeg's?

its a option that the boinc wiki says should be disabled if your isp modifies image files. now i dont ecspect my isp to know what boinc is. I though I would ask around before asking my chat person if they modify image files. because i dont know what it means really or how to explain it.

Okay, I see what you're asking. I'm not sure myself either what that setting is for, one of the moderators should be along and help you out.

Skip image file verification should prevent some issues where your ISP modifies packets pertaining to image files.

If you move your mouse arrow over this option, Boinc provides a 'text tip' describing what it does,
"Check this if your Internet provider modifies image files"

Your ISP would probably know if they do, and they might have a FAQ on the subject.

If you get repeated 'bad checksum' or 'wrong size' errors on downloaded JPEG image files, check the 'Skip image file verification' checkbox in your preferences. Typically this means your ISP is using something called UMTS, which does extra compression of JPEG files.


That would be very uncommon (I've seen it on narrowband mobile networks only).

If your BOINC is running fine don't worry or bother the technician.
