Hi all ^^

i added today a second 570 into one of my machines and there is now a little cooling/noise issue because one of the card has a single cooler only. Does anybody chAnged the cooler of a evga 570 gtx? Because every card has another size im not sure what new cooler i can buy that matches.

When it is too complicated or expensive i change the card with the single cooler into the other gpugrid machine where it run then alone again. Because there is now a dual cooler card in it, and i think it should be better to run the dual gpu machine with two dual cooler graphiccards.

This cooler claims to be compatible with the GTX 570. It takes up more than 2 slots on the motherboard, though.

I've also 2 GTX570's at a system (these two: EVGA GTX570). From the card in the first PCI-e slot i've removed the plastic casing for now (only for temporary) and placed one Gentle Typhoon AP-15 above the two slots. It differs around 15-20° Celsius between just only the card with his own fan or stripped version with an AP-15 @ ~1800rpm.

It was earlier 93°C and now more like ~77°C degrees... that's a lot better. My settings are now 695MHz core clock (1390MHz shaders) and 1700MHz for the 2,5GB VRAM. :)

A more luxe (final) solution would be a full waterblock or a third party (high-end) air cooler, like Dylan said earlier.

Good luck! ;-)

Oh great there are two evga 570 types it seems after i saw your picture. I have this one: http://www.evga.com/articles/00596/

Does your card ran clean with 93 degres? I have now 84-85 with 75 % fanspeed. I wish i could bring it back to 70% where the fan is much Quieter. Does a remove of the plasticcase always is a good solution with an aditional cooler? Because i think the cooler is build for such type of airflow. I will think about it ;)

64dollar for a full new coolingsystem is a bit to much for a "older" card but i will look around perhaps it is somewhere for less money. I only want to cool with air either for some reasons, so no watercooling.

You could lower your GPU voltage and maybe clock speed as well to reduce power consumption. This doesn't improve cooling directly, but the fan will have an easier job.

Otherwise: most aftermarket coolers are quite flexible regarding the mounting. But it's always an adventure nevertheless. And a GTX570 requires serious cooling power, so you probably won't find anything below 30€ which does the job. And most tend to use more than 2 slots.. but are orders of magnitude more silent than a single slot stock cooler.

Lower the voltage? I wish that would work :( Mostly on gpugrid the voltage must be raised by 0.025v to garantue an absolut errorless use over all type of workunits. I know that the voltage has a direct impact on the heat. I used long time on the 560ti 448 cores the standart voltage for longer time. Then a new workunit came on the plan and errors on this card until i raised the voltage on this card too. Since then i raise the voltage on every fermi card by this little amount. Buuut since i have remote control of my systems since two weeks i can react better On errors over weekends etc. So hmm. I can try to lower the voltage on the too hot card only but only tommorow because i have then a local access to the computer. Because yesterday while the initinstallation one of the gpus hardly hock (needed a ten seconds shutdown without powercord) because i changed to often the values like voltage, clocks etc.
I had so long no remote access that i often forget how easy some things can managed now thx for remembering me on such easy solutions ^^

Btw.
Both pcie slots has place for a 3 slot card (its a overclocking bord from abit) so there is not a need for only two slot solutions. Nethertheless the airintake is very little then, because it is very close to the other card or the bottom of the case then.

Does your case have good airflow? Is there a side fan blowing on the GPU? If not would a new case be an option (cheaper and perhaps better solution than an aftermarket GPU cooler)? I ask because those are very high temps. While I've never owned a GTX 570, I have run 2x HD 5870 cards with single GPU fans and the temps have never exceeded 65C running at 99% GPU even in the summer.

BTW, did you get my PMs (here and at Einstein) with average WU times for my 2 HD 7850 cards? Thought you would want them for your excellent spreadheat since you did't have figures for the 7850.

The case is opend so the only airflow is the sometimes running AC. The card with the better cooling blows the air out on the side too (palit card), so the other (bottom) card perhaps suck in some warm air around too. I had not much time yesterday but i will try out some positions with a 8cm blower tomorrow perhaps i can kill the one or other degree With another position ^^ additional with the reset of the gpu voltage i can perhaps lower the cooler back to 70% so the card is silent again, hoefully without error the next months.

Because einstein, yes i think i got your msg but im a bit ill and only over a tablet on some important websites and not on a real computer to update anything.

I would definitively suggest to add side fans blowing at the GPUs, there needs to be a cooler airflow between them.
I for example am running 2x HD7950 on MW@H and the DP tasks there seem to squeeze the GPUs pretty much - they run hotter and were reaching power limiting. I haven't seen such power draw in the past when I was running other (SP) tasks there..
But the point is - I installed 3x 140mm side fans blowing air from outside and that was a remarkable change. I'd put a 4th one if the space would allow it. So now running @ 1100 MHz, 64 C and default GPU fan speed.

If you lower both the Voltage and the Clocks you should be able to find a stable point. A 2.5mV reduction coupled with ~5% Core and GDDR reductions should be stable and sufficiently reduce the amount of heat the fans have to dissipate.

Might be worth investigating until you improve cooling another way.
Also, clean the heatsink and fan blades.

Another option for increasing airflow to GPU's would be a PCI slot cooler.

See this cooler:

http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-SP-FC70-BL-Spectrum-System-Adjustable/dp/B000233ZMU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369946908&sr=8-1&keywords=pci+cooler

This cooler can be put in between cards, and it is cheaper than a new GPU fan.

More coolers here:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pci+cooler

You can find them on Amazon by searching "pci cooler". Make sure to use the link provided by GPUGRID so some money will go to the researchers!

There is no end of crap out there, that will do little or nothing to cool anything,

Honestly, looks like a hard drive cooler from 5years ago!

eh, or just remove the existing ones!

Yeah, like that's gonna work!

Oookaaayy some skunk had closed the windows, so the room went hotter then i though. I looked now again after opening the windows for two hours and it gone from 84 down to 77 degress ^^ Man man man. I will try the hint to put two 14cm sideways to the gpus soon (plus it has a learning effect because all machines should run with two graphiccards in the future) because a single 8cm only warmed the card up because it suck in too much hot air from the card above, i had to remove it instantly.

Where would that slot cooler pull air from? It would suck heat produced by the GPU below and blow it at the GPU fans above... Useless.

Another cooler to look at would be this one:

http://www.gelidsolutions.com/products/index.php?lid=1&cid=17&id=52

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003U8BLJI

It is slightly cheaper than the first cooler I mentioned, however, it appears that all decent GPU coolers are $50 or more.

I also found a thread where people talk about coolers for their GTX 570's.

Yeah I think there are some more fan/cooling types. EVGA has a lot of different cards... :P

Yes the WU's will run and finish successfully. I have my system placed on a benchtable... so when I open the window combined with max fanspeed @ the cards and the AP-15, it will work and cool directly. But I have to say I'm not happy with it at all, 77 degrees for a long time (120 hours a week or something) is way too hot and noisy. The maximum ambient temperature is ~25 degrees.

So remove the casing helped this time with my coolerdesign, but I really dont know if it will work with your card.

64dollar for a full new coolingsystem is a bit to much for a "older" card but i will look around perhaps it is somewhere for less money. I only want to cool with air either for some reasons, so no watercooling.

Yes it is expensive... I agree with that. But when I've bought these cards from someone (second hand) I get also two fullcover WC blocks. The problem is: I dont have a pump, radiator, etc... so the cooling solution from above is hopefully only for temporary. ;-)

But yes, I can understand your point... when I had to buy new WC blocks at this time it was also a no-go for me.

Maybe you can look at some second hand cooling solutions. Often will it matter in price...
