I was curious and entered GPUGrids Bitcoin wallet address in a blockchain explorer. They received $ 1,454,312.62 in bitcoins. All in 2012.

Yes I know it costs alot to run these projects but wow there have been some very generous people.

yeah but is that $1.4 million at the current BTC value? What was the value at the time the coins were mined (I assume D@H sold them almost immediately for fiat)? BTC jumped a lot in the past 2 years...

edit: yeah I just check, in 2012 the BTC ended around $11 per BTC. Today it is about $485 per BTC. So almost a 50-fold increase in BTC value from 2012 to today. It even peaked around $1100 early this year.

edit2: ok I went to the link you posted, 3,205 bitcoins received in 2012, that would be a maximum value of about $35,200.
