Would anybody know if a GPUGRID *nix x86 app is being worked on, and if so what the ETA is?

If not, I'm going to have to do some OS re-installation to make regular use of GPUGRID - which I'd rather not do at all... but hey.

Thanks for getting back to me gdf; not to worry, at least I know I need to make the migration now. It's probably best anyway.

I cant personally see much use supporting Linux 32bit for 2 reasons.
1) Upgrading to 64bit Linux is free and fairly easy.
2) Newer graphics cards (the ones this project uses) start at 512MB RAM and go at least to 1.8GB RAM (like my GTX 295). 32Bit supports just over 3GB of total system RAM. With a graphics card using most of it the computer using it would be terribly hobbled to put it mildly. This is the reason i have upgraded to 64bit Vista recently for gaming and have used 64bit Linux for everything else for ages.

Just a minor correction in 32 bit Linux you can compile options to support greater than 4 gig (or 8 gig) of RAM in fact I ran a 32 bit Linux server with 8 gig of RAM for a couple years. Just go into /usr/src/linux and type make menuconfig or make xconfig and you will see the options. I do run 64 bit Linux these days and indeed it is very easy. For a Linux desktop, Adobe even released flash for 64 bit Linux so you don't have to mess around with 32 bit plugins anymore. Anyway do not believe that 32 bit Linux has not supported greater than 4 gig of RAM for years. If Ace is very focused on BOINC I do suggest migrating to 64 bit, some projects (just some not all) are noticably faster, you can see a list on this thread http://boincstats.com/forum/forum_thread.php?id=1774 For those that do not support 64 bit they just send you the 32bit app.

Sorry, but i cant understood why the Project is wasting so much Crunching Power,just while the 32Bit User are left in the Dark. I like my System how it is, and will not switch to 64Bit only to Donate my GPU Idle-Times.

I think that is not just me.

And there are still old CPU machines in the Boinc community (w/o EM64T like -edit: most PIV and Coreduo - edit: not to mix up with the Core2duo) which could crunch their share with a fairly recent GPU.

I'm with McRoger on this one. I'm 7 months to the day of being able to contribute with an older system (that won't run 64-bit) and a CUDA card.
